TagTeacherNet
members stretch the corners of the globe and have already begun
to make a difference working together with an organisation called
A Ray of Hope, UNESCO ambassador for the Culture of Peace.
Based in Northern Ireland, Ray of Hope and TagTeacherNet aim to
help schools in developing countries.
In
this series of articles, Don McBurney, director of Ray of Hope,
describes how teachers and educationalists can become involved:

|
Teachers
world wide can get help and advice through the TagTeacherNet
grapevine.

A
Ray of Hope - Helping schools in the developing world
|

|
A Ray
of Hope is not a charity and tries as far as possible never to assist
in currency form, but rather to investigate what people, especially
children, need throughout the world and to deliver that item directly
into their hands. This avoids many of the pitfalls that exist in
the world of giving.
We
believe that diversity of culture is enrichment and actively look
for and promote friendships. if we can assist our friends we do.
|
We
have little difficulty in obtaining certain educational supplies and to
date have distributed over $5 million worth. Some of the smaller items,
although easily purchased, we feel it is to the benefit of everyone that
those who wish can assist us and in doing so know that they have directly
helped.
No
member of A Ray of Hope receives financial gain of any kind but the true
satisfaction of knowing that, at very least, we are attempting to make
a difference.
Maybe
you could help with a small item from our present wish list of needs or
maybe we could help you.
